The Media Office of the President recently released a comprehensive 91-page document that highlights President Muhammadu Buhari’s achievements over the past eight years. The report covers a wide range of areas, including infrastructure, legislative reforms, executive orders, ease of doing business, digital economy, oil and gas, solid minerals, agriculture, social investment and poverty alleviation, support to states, law enforcement and security, youth and sports development, among others.
According to Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson, the document was a result of several weeks of painstaking work by the Presidential Communications Team. Upon reading the report, Adesina expressed awe at the president’s achievements and successes, which were well-documented in the report.
However, not everyone is convinced of the president’s achievements. Some critics and cynics still believe that Buhari has not done much for the country during his tenure. To counter such claims, the Fact Sheet released by the presidency provides a comprehensive record of the president’s achievements, which speak for themselves.
The release of the Fact Sheet has garnered two reactions from Nigerians. On the one hand, many Nigerians are delighted with the document and have requested copies to counteract fake news merchants. On the other hand, some people are skeptical and are poring over the document to disprove some of the claims made.
Despite the criticisms, President Buhari continues to deliver on his promises. On Tuesday, he commissioned the 748-unit Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Mass Housing Estate in Zuba, Abuja. The estate covers an area of 18.5 hectares and comprises one, two, and three-bedroom flats, as well as three-bedroom terrace duplexes. The project cost N9.5 billion, with the Federal Government providing N7.5 billion. About 13,600 Nigerians were employed both directly and indirectly during the construction of the estate.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Buhari reminded the new homeowners that his promise of change had been fulfilled. He also urged them to work with the FHA to ensure the maintenance of the property and the safety of the environment. The completion of the project is a testament to the government’s commitment to providing infrastructure nationwide and creating employment opportunities for artisans and skilled members of society.
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, also praised the president for his leadership and team work, which led to the completion of the project. He noted that the beneficiaries of the project subscribed through the FHA Rent-to-Own delivery model.
Other infrastructure projects, such as the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Second Niger Bridge, are also ongoing and set to be completed before the end of the administration’s tenure on May 29. The achievements of President Buhari’s government cannot be ignored, and the Fact Sheet serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises.
