Osimhen Nets Hat-Trick, Climbs to Top of UCL Scorers’ Chart

Victor Osimhen scored all three goals as Galatasaray defeated Ajax 3-0 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) encounter at the Johan Cruijff Arena on Wednesday. 

The 26-year-old striker scored his first goal of the match in the 59th minute. He snuck behind the Ajax defence to head home a floated cross from Leroy Sane.

Osimhen then scored two penalty kicks within 10 minutes to complete his first-ever UCL hat-trick.

The Super Eagles striker had scored one goal against Liverpool and another brace against Bodo/Glimt in his last two UCL matches.

Osimhen also became the highest-scoring Nigerian across all UEFA club competitions with 25 goals. He eclipsed Obafemi Martins’ 23-goal record.

In other matches, Chelsea failed to beat Qarabag, settling for a 2-2 draw against the Azerbaijani side.

Barcelona also played a thrilling 3-3 draw against Club Brugge, while Manchester City thrashed Borussia Dortmund 4-1.

Newcastle United defeated Athletic Club de Bilbao 2-0, and Inter Milan squeezed a 2-1 victory over Kairat FC.
