Jnr Pope: Police Recover Three Bodies from Anambra River

The Marine Police of Anambra State Command has recovered the bodies of the three remaining victims of the unfortunate boat accident involving a movie cast.

According to the spokesman of Anambra State command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, two of the bodies were recovered on Thursday, while the last was washed to shore by tide on Friday.

He stated that all the recovered bodies have been deposited in a hospital mortuary in Asaba, Delta State capital, while the President of the Guild of Actors and Actresses has been notified of the recovery.

Ikenga said the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, urged all water commuters to be safety conscious and avoid behaviour that may jeopardise their safety and others while on transit on water.

According to him, the CP promised expedited investigation into the sad accident that claimed the lives of five actors.

He also stated that Adeoye has commended the Command’s Marine Unit and its Commander for dedication to duty.

Pope Odowondo and some cast of a movie drowned in an accident on River Niger two days ago.

While Odowondo’s corpse was immediately identified, those of others were declared missing and recovered in bits.
