The Federal Government, through the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), has unveiled ‘Naija Flavour…. Destination December 2025.″
The initiative seeks to boost Nigeria’s tourism with innovation, entertainment, and economic impact.
It is scheduled to hold in Abuja on the 13th of December, 2025, and is part of efforts targeted at exposing the rich heritage of the Nigerian culture to the world.
Speaking at a pre-event press conference in Abuja, the Director General of NTDA, Olayiwola Awakan, said it is a creative tourism expression that reflects the identity, energy, diversity, and entrepreneurial spirit of the Nigerian nation.
He said that the 2025, which will be held in Abuja, is to test the waters while subsequent ones will be held in the six geopolitical zones.
“Today, we are not just launching a program; we are celebrating the flavours of our culture, the vibrancy of our creativity, and the growing power of tourism as an economic driver under the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“As we all know, the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda emphasises economic growth, creative industry expansion, SME development, and sustainable value creation. Naija Flavour has been conceptualised in that same spirit, to generate wealth, empower local businesses, strengthen our creative economy, and build a tourism experience that sustains itself and stimulates national growth.
“Nigeria is not just a country; we are a global vibe, especially in December. Our December has become world-famous. “Detty December” is a period when the world comes to us, to taste our culture, feel our music, eat our food, wear our fashion, and immerse themselves in the energy that makes Nigeria unforgettable.
“At the NTDA, we asked ourselves a simple but powerful question: how do we package that vibe as a tourism product that drives jobs, revenue, and international attention? Naija Flavour is our answer.
“On December 13, 2025, Abuja will host a marketplace of culture, entrepreneurship, food, fashion, games, musical concerts, and live theatre.. It will be a space where businesses meet opportunities, where SMEs gain customers and partners, and where tourism becomes a real economic force,” he stressed.
He explained that Naija Flavour is not just about entertainment, but economic empowerment for the people.
“If culture is our asset, then SMEs are the engine that drives tourism revenue. Through Naija Flavour, we are giving these businesses visibility, access, and platforms to thrive.”

Awakan also disclosed that NTDA has been using theatre as a tool for tourism storytelling and cultural preservation.
He commended firms, corporate partners and sponsors for partnering with NTDA, including Monoliza Abuja, the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), the National Troupe of Nigeria, the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilisation (CBAAC), the National Film and Video Censors Board and the Guild of Theatre Arts Drummers (GOTHAD).
The DG also charged the SMEs and creative entrepreneurs to prepare to showcase their brilliance during the coming event, assuring that the government, under the Renewed Hope Agenda, will continue to build a tourism industry that generates income, sustains jobs, and promotes national pride.
According to him, the December 2025 event will have unquantifiable multiplier effects, as over 2000 people and 50 SMEs are expected to grace the event.
On his part, the Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Aare (Dr) Absoye Fagade, said that Nigeria presently has leaders in the sector that are ready to put tourism ahead of the oil and gas sectors.
Oba Dokun Thompson, Oloni of Eli Oni, Osun State, said the coming event is a dream come true.
“We are no longer the custodian of culture; we drive culture,” the Royal Father stated.
Praying that everything works out as planned, he also wished the event were not a one-off thing.
The National President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Dr Badaki Aliyu, assured that its members are going to be fully involved in the coming event.
On his part, the Managing Director of Monoliza Event Centre, Mohammed Jaama, said that the company is partnering with NTDA because the government cannot do it alone.
“It’s a passion for me to promote Nigeria, and I’m passionate about Naija Flavour. You have shown you are ready to work, and I will give you all the support you need.”
