Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned that industrial harmony looms in campuses following Federal Government’s failure to honour its last year’s agreement with the union.
ASUU said it should not be blamed for any disruption of academic activities in the nation’s universities.
Chairman of the University of Jos chapter of ASUU, Prof. Julbe Joseph Molwus, who made this known to reporters, expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s non- commitment to implementing the agreement.
Molwus specifically mentioned the government’s failure to inaugurate the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC), which is crucial for facilitating and guiding the actualisation of the agreement.
He said the government has failed to match the fanfare that Molwus flayed what he described as the selective implementation of the salary component of the agreement, which includes Consolidated Academic Tool Agreement (CATA), Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), the Professional Allowance (PA) and the responsibility allowance.
He said: “The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) met at Moddibo Adama University, Yola on May 9 to 10 and renewed the state of the union.
‘’The union also reviewed the level of implementation of the FGN/ASUU agreement, which was signed on December 23, 2025.
“After extensive deliberations, NEC was dissatisfied with the level of commitment demonstrated by the Federal Government towards the implementation of the agreement.”
