Malami Clinches Kebbi ADC Governorship Ticket

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 election in Kebbi State.

The announcement was made on Sunday by Mohammed Doka, Malami’s special assistant on media, in a statement shared on the former minister’s X account.

According to the statement, Malami expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders and supporters for the trust and backing shown toward his ambition ahead of the election.

The ADC also confirmed other candidates for key positions in the state. Retired military officer Aminu Bande was affirmed as the party’s candidate for Kebbi Central Senatorial District, while retired Deputy Comptroller-General Ibrahim Mera secured the ticket for Kebbi North. Garba Danjuma emerged as the candidate for Kebbi South Senatorial District.

Doka said Malami remains committed to delivering purposeful leadership, promoting good governance and addressing issues of justice, security and development in Kebbi State.

“Together, with unity and determination, we shall build a more prosperous future for generations to come,” the statement read.

Malami had in November 2025 declared his intention to contest the governorship election, saying the state needed to be rescued from hardship and worsening insecurity, which he blamed on the current administration.
