APC Stakeholders Support Nentawe, Endorse Retention of Zoning Formula

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, a coalition of party stakeholders under the banner of the Concerned APC Stakeholders Forum has endorsed the retention of the party’s zoning formula.

The convener of the forum, Dr Dominic Alancha, at a press conference held in Abuja on Thursday, also threw his weight behind the continued stay of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the National Chairman of the party.

The forum argued that its position was aimed at promoting stability, unity and electoral preparedness within the ruling party.
Alancha described zoning as a critical stabilising mechanism that has ensured inclusiveness, fairness and national balance within the APC, warning that any attempt to alter the arrangement could trigger internal tension and weaken party cohesion.

The forum called on the National Executive Committee (NEC), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, party elders and key stakeholders to uphold the existing zoning formula in the interest of equity and unity.

The forum also urged party leaders across geopolitical zones to adopt micro-zoning at the state level to deepen balance and strengthen the party’s grassroots base.

On leadership continuity, the forum formally endorsed Yilwatda, citing what it described as notable progress in internal reconciliation, party administration, membership drive and strategic repositioning under his leadership.

According to the forum, retaining the current National Chairman would enable the APC to consolidate ongoing reforms, strengthen institutional discipline and enhance readiness for future elections.

Alancha further declared his intention to contest for the position of National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the APC, saying his aspiration was driven by the need to strengthen party communication, public engagement and image management.

He said effective communication of party policies and programmes was essential to shaping public perception and sustaining support for the party’s agenda.

The forum urged APC stakeholders to place collective interest above personal ambition, stressing that unity and continuity were critical to the party’s continued dominance, reaffirming its loyalty to the APC and pledging support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It expressed confidence that the party would emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle and sweep the polls with the support of the vast majority of the electorate.
