Property Worth Millions Destroyed as Fire Razes Storey Building in Lagos

An early morning fire outbreak on Friday, 14 June 2024, razed a storey building located along Alhaji Jubril Street, Magodo Phase II, Lagos.

The fire which started from one of the duplexes in the affected building, also destroyed property worth millions of naira.

Though no life was lost in the incident, witnesses alleged that some neighbours who rose to fight the fire when it started sustained minor wounds.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.

Giving an update on the incident, the permanent secretary said the agency responded to the distress calls via the state’s toll-free emergency numbers 767/112 on a fire outbreak in a one-storey building at No. 16 Alhaji Jubril Street, Magodo Phase II.

He said the agency’s response team from the Command-and-Control Centre at Alausa arrived at the twin duplex around 8.02 am.
